What I love so much about a lot of the Coen Brothers' movies is that you're left thinking about what it all really meant in the end, long after the movie's over. So much is left open-ended that it really makes you wonder how much symbolism you can discover from watching this movie again. Like many of their movies don't expect to get a nice, clean, cookie-cutter, Hollywood ending, but the ending will really make you think much more than the regular stuff Hollywood spits out. What I liked was that many surprises happen in Barton Fink, that leave you guessing, suspending you on the edge of your seat, wondering how it's all gonna turn out in the end. Of course like all Coen-made movies, it has that subtle humor in it but I'd say this is a lot more drama and film noir than it is a comedy. Not like Lebowski or O Brother. No doubt Turturro's best role I've ever seen him in and Goodman is a good man for this role. Perfect movie. Released in theaters two days before I was born interestingly enough...

Meticulously detailed, surreal portrait of an artist's struggle in Hollywood. I often wonder if the whole movie is supposed to be a dream. Barton Fink is certainly one of the funniest Coen brother movies. There's something about the sheer madness of everything in the movie that I find extremely hilarious. For me, the film is easily on par with Lebowski, Hudsucker, and Arizona in terms of comedy. I'm still amazed that the Coens were allowed to make a movie like this, even with the credentials they had by 1991.

Cinematic storytelling of a writter trying to make his name known in Hollywood... Although He suffers writers block until he meets....... Charlie Meadows! I usually don't like the Coen Bros. but after this film it completely changed my mind. Didn't expect the ending at all. All actors did an amazing job and the directing was intense and mesmerising. If you also don't particularly like the Coen Bros. watch this and it will completely change your mind!

This is one of those movies that, as a filmmaker, one wishes they made. Superb companion piece to Sunset Boulevard and Whatever Happened To Baby Jane.

The Coen Brother's best movie in my opinion. Full of allegories and metaphors that make you think: "genius!"
