My favourite adaptation of A Christmas Carol. I just love this film!The acting is superb from Albert Finney - the makeup for the ageing- magnificent, especially given the time. He is so grumpy and bitter but also very endearing, you just want to give him a hug! He also evokes our sympathy and empathy- particularly when fellow shoppers, lost in their own worlds, get completely in his way....or maybe that's just me! The support is excellent; Kenneth More, Alec Guiness and Edith Evans, to name a few, are on sterling form. But it's the music that really transports me; it so perfectly captures all the magic and mystery of Dicken's creation and of the nostalgic view we have of victorian London. I never feel this film received the praise and recognition it deserved, and it's about time it did!

In my opinion, the best Christmas Carol ever. Leslie Bricusse did an amazing job with the music/lyrics and Albert Finney gives a sensitive, emotional performance about the fact that everyone can change, no matter their stage in life.

My favorite version of the classic Dickens story. This is required watching every Christmas morning, right after opening presents.

This musical starring Albert Finney is my favorite version of "A Christmas Carol" ever. The songs are all very good, the actors are stupendous, the visuals and camera tricks are still solid, and it's so damn fun.
