While all the attention is naturally on Mr Wu and Lau, the film's true breakout star here is China actor Wang Qianyuan, who is vicious as the criminal mastermind.

Based on actual events involving a Chinese movie star Mr. Wu(Andy Lau), being ransomed for a sum of money within a spawn of 20 hours. Viewers get see some of the police procedures but also the emotional turmoil as well.

Decent thriller, though it really is most powerful in its quieter moments. The tone-deaf "fantasy sequences" feel more like concessions to producers insisting on more action sequences, and thus are jarring and unnecessary.
