Meeting in a navy recruiting line, Al Crowthers and Melvin Jones become friends. Al has tried to enlist before, but was always rejected. He keeps trying so that he can impress women. Melvin, is allergic to women's cosmetics and his doctor prescribed ocean travel, so he decided to join the navy.

I watched almost every Martin and Lewis movie as a kid

Lewis can be very annoying. And Martin isn't as impressive to me as he is to some. But still, it's a good combo deal. And James Dean! Not a bad flick. Just utterly meaningless.

Martin and Lewis star as a smooth and a whacky sailor always getting into all sorts of trouble. Nice fast pace and good solid rhythm, though this kind of comedy is always more a required taste, and anyone expecting anything that goes beyond the usual little plot should look elsewhere.

Probably Martin & Lewis's best. The boxing scene is among their funniest moments in any film.
