Hitchcock makes a comedy... luckily, only once.

cute movie.. couldve been a lot better, but it IS 67 years old so it's not going be anything like the movies of today.

A married couple that enjoys playful sparring with one another venture into deep water when they discover a bureaucratic oversight has rendered them not married. What's glib here is what's not said by the principals, Lombard and Montgomery, fully adapting to Hitch's trick of conveying thoughts with a glance. Unfortunately one wishes for more oomph, script-wise. Lombard, as ever, is effervescence itself.

Hitchcock's only comedy, this one is a looloo. Love Lombard's line about having been right about her then-fiance: "I knew there was something wrong with you - your forehead slants back too much!" Lombard turned down an opportunity to work with then-unknown Orson Welles to take this film project instead. Wonder what she and Welles would have created?

Very amusing comedy from the master of suspense. I liked it a lot better than the recent movie of the same name. This was smart and sophisticated and clever.
