A very different take on the Robin Hood legend from versatile director Richard Lester. Gone are the tights and the swashbuckling of legend, replaced by an old, grey and worn out Robin, returning after 20 years at the Crusades, ready to renew his rivalry with old nemesis The Sheriff of Nottingham. This film is a slow meditation on aging and re-finding your place in the world, as well as about love that can never die. It features a tremendous cast, including Sean Connery, Audrey Hepburn, Robert Shaw and Richard Harris, to name but a few. Love is the greatest adventure of all indeed

Not nearly as good as I wanted it to be but still worth watching. Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn team up to tell the tale of Robin Hood in his later years. Returning from the Crusades and war in France, Robin finds the sheriff up to his same old tricks in Nottingham. Descent story, good acting but it does kind of lay there at times. This is Hepburn's first time on screen after a break to raise her family so it good to see her return to the big screen. The highlight for me was Richard Harris as Richard the Lionheart, great cameo.

Robin And Marian is a criminally underrated romance film. I've heard people complain that this film is boring because it is more story and dialogue-driven, rather than being action-packed like the usual Robin Hood film adapation. I couldn't disagree more, because I never found it to be boring because I think it's a perfect film. It's more of a romance film rather than an adventure, which worked just fine for me because of the superb acting, especially the leads who display wonderful chemistry. The film is exciting, funny, and heartbreaking, and I highly recommend it. Why so many people seem to hate it, I'll never understand why. I think Robin And Marian deserves to be acknowledged as a classic.
