A sweet little romantic film based on Roald Dahl's book. A retired elderly man pursuing the affections of his elderly neighbour; it's a charming movie, filled with tortoises acting as catalysts in their love story. Dustin Hoffman and Dame Judi Dench can surely captivate us all by themselves, even at this age. James Corden's narration is commendable. For most of it, the film is delightful but forgettable, but the I really loved the last five minutes; the sweet reveal is sure to leave a smile on one's face.

This adaptation of Roald Dahl's Esio Trot is charming, clever, funny, very sweet and has great chemistry between Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench.

I'd read the short story on which this movie is adapted from to my children years ago, and was curious as to how they could turn such a short, simple tale into a full length movie. To tell the truth, I had limited expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised overall, with both the acting and the story carrying the original story and building on it convincingly.

Delightful gentle comedy with a generous dose of Roald Dahl weirdness. Predictably great performances from Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench, and even the one-dimensional James Cordon is well cast as the soppy narrator.
