What’s interesting about Revenge is that it’s told from a female perspective – and by a female filmmaker.

Revenge (2017) tinha tudo pra ser mais do mesmo, mas a direção, junto ao elenco, fazem do filme muito único. Os momentos de tensão são únicos, com surpresas que te deixam sem ar. A violência é gráfica é insana, onde há momentos que te deixam enojado, quase que sentindo a dor do personagem. A fotografia é bela, passando muito bem o ponto de vista do personagem ou a própria imensidade do deserto - algumas vezes, sua beleza. O elenco está muito bem escalado, com todos os atores dando boas interpretações. Porém, o que realmente chama atenção aqui é a direção da Cineasta Coralie Fargeat. O foco na reação dos personagens, a violência retratada, o jogo de edição feito em algumas cenas. É realmente fantástico. Uma trama extremamente básica simplesmente reimaginada. Fora que aqui não há militância, e tudo que a diretora quer mostrar está em tela, o que aumenta ainda mais minha admiração pela mesma.

A young woman goes on a getaway with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend's associates show up early for their hunting trip and things take a very dark turn. She is raped and they attempt to murder her. And she seeks revenge. This is such a great genre film. This is a tense, over-the-top action, revenge movie. And it is that all the way. This movie takes the female stereotype and flips it completely on its head and uses it to its full advantage. This led to one of the most badass performances I've seen in a while. Revenge is very heavy on style but never at the expense of the substance. Tons of symbolism to look for. Also very, very gory. I had to look away. A lot. This movie is great.
