Cissy, Reggie, and Wilf are in a home for retired musicians. Every year, there is a concert to celebrate Composer Giuseppe Verdi's birthday and they take part. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on, and it does.

A wonderful, light-hearted and very entertaining movie. Really enjoyed. Highly recommended. Loved Maggie Smith and Billy Connolly and a whole host of talented musicians.

maggie smith and tom courtenay lead and excellent cast. Not as powerful as Amour burt excellent story and music. BBC leads moviemakers in doing realistic movies for us aging boomers.

Loved it! It won't be everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoyed it. Pauline Collins stole the movie as Sissy. I think I will go rent Shirley Valentine.

This is a warm, witty, wonderful, lyrical, beautiful movie. Dustin Hoffman did a marvelous job with the subject matter as well as the people. The actors in it are stellar, the music is breathtaking.
