Provoked (2007)

Provoked is the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a Punjabi woman who moved to London after her marriage with Deepak Ahluwalia. Her husband seemed caring at first but then began to beat her up. He started drinking a lot and sleeping around with other women. he also subjected her to spousal rape. After ten years and having two children with him, out of fear, she sets him on fire.

Ashwariya acted incredibly well in this movie. Nandita Das could have done a better job. I think the movie is very thought provoking and well directed and does complete justice to the real Kiran jeet Ahluwlia story. Its something we see so commoly in life and dont react to. Highly recommended to anyone who wants two hours of intense, true story of an abused woman.

I found this film very good. The whole of the film showing what Kirajit Ahluwalia went through was amazing. Having Ashwarya to play Kiranjit was very good. The film couldn't show everything that the book said as Kiranjit is still alive and that once the film was done and shown she still have to live on. The movie stepped around important parts so that it didnt hurt Kiranjit. Overall the film was amazing I love it. It is worth watching.

Kiranjit Ahluwalia suffered so much for love and fear: 10 YEARS OF PHYSICAL, VERBAL, MENTAL, AND SEXUAL ABUSE! This British-Indian movie is one of the best I ever saw in my life. Yeah, it is based on a real account, but it's worth of it. Only bastards like Deepak deserve to die as he did: BURNED! He was a double-faced son of a bitch who mistreated an innocent and caring woman who was smart and had so many dreams; she sacrified her dreams and goals just for marriage. Battered Woman's Syndrome, as a legal (and psychological) state of mind would have driven anyone to do so due to domestic violence and such disgusting abuses. Even tough Kiranjit Ahluwalia will never be the same anymore, Regina vs. Ahluwalia courtcase opened many minds and made some of you think about what would it be if it was you. THINK ABOUT IT, WATCH IT!
