Provoked (2007)

Provoked is the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a Punjabi woman who moved to London after her marriage with Deepak Ahluwalia. Her husband seemed caring at first but then began to beat her up. He started drinking a lot and sleeping around with other women. he also subjected her to spousal rape. After ten years and having two children with him, out of fear, she sets him on fire.

I can't imagine enduring what she did but her suffering caused her to grow considerably stronger than she thought possible and luckily in her case justice prevailed. In many cases of spousal abuse this is not the case... Aishwarya is captivating! Worth watching especially if you've experienced this type of treatment or know someone who has. This is a fantastic movie, and one I most likely won't forget soon. This movie is deeply touching and moving.

Based on a true story, it was acted supurbly. It's English and Bollywood, so if you don't do accents you won't like it. Aishwarya is such a good actress.
