Nina's Heavenly Delights hints at better-simmered versions of similar dishes.

A charming little rom-com, although at times it feels like you're watching curry porn. The leads and the supporting cast give strong performances. It is like a Curtis flick, but with a lot more sassiness and no Julia-sodding-Roberts or Hugh Grant. That's a bonus.

talk about iron chef bollywood (India) with the setting at Glasgow, Scotland. hmm... but seriously, this is a good movie --- really! and the indian food is quite enticing. the story revolves around a Hindu community based in Scotland. One day, Nina, who has been based in the UK returns to Glasgow due of the death of her father. One bombshell after the other surfaces, and Nina fights to keep the family-owned restaurant. The biggest challenge of her life is not only adding to the family's number of awards by joining a cooking competition, but following her heart as well. Must see movie.

In her feature debut, filmmaker Pratibha Parmar falls back on every cliché she's supposedly trying to undermine.

I really loved Pratibha Parmar's work on "Nina's Heavenly Delights" and that's the reason I am so pissed off that there is rarely a chance for the character of a dyke to be realistically portrayed - or at least, believably enough for the gay audience to give it a pass. Laura Fraser is cute, but why on earth can't we see a real dyke playing a dyke on screen? Are they so hard to find? That's alI I have to say on this. "Politiki Kouzina" for lesbians!
