i probably appreciated this movie more because I'm from vermont - i thought it was good

It goes to show that big oil owns most of the Media. I think anyone giving this movie a bad review owns stock in Halliburton or has vested interest in destroying our water tables. It's a great movie with a great message. Poo poo to you if you don't like it.

Today I was reminded again why I do my little "Oscar quest" every year. It has led me to some really great movies over the years that I would have missed otherwise, and today was no exception. PROMISED LAND was one of the most thought provoking movies I have seen in a long time. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, so I won't go into the plot (I went into it completely blind myself) but it definitely posed some hard questions about the world we live in and what it costs us to continue to live the way we do. I highly recommend it

Everything about this movie is simple in a good way. It's a great, touching picture about a very controversial and important topic.

Fruitful collaboration between director Van Sant and star Damon, which resulted in excellent (Good Will Hunting) and idiosyncratic films (Gerry), is now reaponsible for a simplistic message picture that wears its ideology on its sleeves.
