Terribly Happy (2008)

Robert Hansen, 34, a young police officer from Copenhagen, is transferred against his will to the small town of Skarrild in Southern Jutland as a substitute Marshall. The transfer is Robert's chance to start over. Whether he is allowed to return to his job in Copenhagen, all depends on how well he performs in this frontier town.

La pelicula empieza con la historia de una vaca que nace con dos cabezas, y una de ellas es humana. Bastante "Fucked Up"! La cosa es que se mantiene asi de loca, pasando cosas que a cada rato me decia "eso no esta bien". En fin, es una pelicula loca, pero entretiene.

It was strange enough to keep me watching, but the lead actor didn't have enough charm to really make me care about him. The mood shifted several times, but it takes quite a skilled director to accomplish that smoothly. It felt quirky, but forced-quirky. And enough with the references to Coen brothers!

Not quite a comedy but as darkly comic a crime drama as you'll find, this offbeat modern noir... is a weirdly compelling portrait of a town that has its own sense of justice...

Hot Fuzz without the laughs. It was well acted on a poor screenplay, with lots of build up and no payoff. Because the director had influence on the novel as it was being written and wrote the screenplay at the same time, the film has that "making it up as we go along" feel. The film suffers because the director seems more concerned about keeping the integrity of the story rather than making a good film. There are talks of an American version with Henrik Ruben Genz directing again, but I think it would be better served with a fresh narrative.
