Picture Claire (2001)

Quebec native Claire Beaucage has a one-night stand with a photographer of some renown. Despite the language barrier between them, he invites her to visit him in Toronto. She shows up on his doorstep after an arson attack leaves her homeless, but soon finds herself caught up in a case of murder and mistaken identity.

The odd casting of Juliette Lewis as a French Canadian who doesn't speak English seems peculiar, but she is amazingly terrific. An intriguing rather strange film. Not bad at all.

This is one of those movies that you would never plan on going out to see but you catch it on TV in the middle of one of those nights when you can't sleep and you get hooked by the quirkiness of it all. Then you go to sleep, thinking to yourself right before you drift off to slumberland..."Juliette Lewis didn't speak one word of English that entire movie?"

I seriously loved this movie. it's been a while since i've seen it, but although the plot line is kind of ordinary, the cinematography was excellent, and it had the ability to capture the culture of toronto...and it just transports you somewhere else. very enjoyable to watch.
