One of the most beautiful and frightening films ever made. This is a horror film, with dueling identities, super-imposed images, clips of everything from dead sheep to silent films, ripped film, horrifying music, and the constant reminder that everything taking place is a film and we, the audience and the characters in the film, have absolutley no control over what will happen. Persona walks a very fine line between a surreal dream and a total nightmare, and the end result is a fascinating masterpiece that is one of Bergman's greatest.

This is only the 2nd Bergman film I have seen (Seventh Seal being the first) but if Ingmar Bergman has made a better film, I may very well die of shock. Absolutely jaw-dropping

A psychological drama revolving around two women on an isolated seaside house, one is a successful actress who suddenly stopped talking for unknown reason and the other is a nurse assigned to care for her. The nurse grew close to the actress and shared her dark and passionate secret to the actress. However, she discovered the actress thought of it as being quite amusing. Both women began to suffer to from psychological issues and eventually folie à deux. I love Persona, partly because it's unique, has minimalist setting, high contrast of lighting and surrealistic imagery. There are many ways to interpret the film, it's quite difficult even thinking it through a psychological point of view. Persona is certainly one of Ingmar Bergman's greatest films, the acting was superb as well. Probably too artistic and incomprehensible for some, but repeated viewing may shed light on those individuals.

Quite possibly my favorite Bergman film, but that's like choosing the favorite child. It's not that I like it more, I just choose to treat it better and go to all of its baseball games.

Stylistically and thematically innovative.
