Pather Panchali (1955)

Impoverished priest Harihar Ray, dreaming of a better life for himself and his family, leaves his rural Bengal village in search of work. Alone, his wife, Sarbojaya, looks after her rebellious daughter, Durga, and her young son, Apu, as well as Harihar's elderly aunt Indir. The children enjoy the small pleasures of their difficult life, while their parents suffer the daily indignities heaped upon them.

This is one of the few non-English movies I've ever watched in my life. Briliant movie. It is astounding to think of the small budget that this movie was made with. Brings to life an excellent story. Kudos to the late great Satyajit Ray for making the perfect film!

Una sorpresa para aquellos que creen que el cine de la India es solo "Bollywood": La primera parte de la trilogia de Apu es la obra maestra del director Satyajit Ray, quien con una de las mejores fotografias en la historia del cine, nos abre poco a poco los ojos hacia nuevas formas de contar una historia.
