Pat and Mike (1952)

Pat Pemberton is a brilliant athlete, except when her domineering fiancé is around. The ladies golf championship is in her reach until she gets flustered by his presence at the final holes. He wants them to get married and forget the whole thing, but she cannot give up on herself that easily. She enlists the help of Mike Conovan, a slightly shady sports promoter. Together they face mobsters, a jealous boxer, and a growing mutual attraction.

Eine Ã¶de, witzlose KomÃ¶die, die Regisseur George Cukor ohne Inspiration um das einstige Dreamteam Tracy/Hepburn herumstrickt. Ohne Skript, ohne pointierte Dialoge, ohne Witz - was bleibt, ist ein emanzipatorischer Grundgedanke, der leider nie zu einer funktionierenden Form findet. Mir fÃ¤llt wirklich kein Grund ein, sich diesen von zwei recht komischen Sequenzen abgesehen furchtbar drÃ¶gen Film aus dem Nebenwerk aller Beteiligten anzuschauen.

Another funny pairing of Tracy and Hepburn. Some of the other films they made together are probably better... but this one has some fun in it, too.

It's hard to deny the chemistry between Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, but this film really lacks the weight of some of their others.

the chemistry of on screen couples is rarely as charming as it is between katharine hepburn and spencer tracy in "pat and mike". the film has more than a few good laughs, and really well written witty dialogue. this is a definite must see for classic cinema fans.
