Michael is a young boy living in a typical 1950s suburbanite home... except for his bizarre and horrific nightmares, and continued unease around his parents. Young Michael begins to suspect his parents are cooking more than just hamburgers on the grill outside, but has trouble explaining his fears to his new-found friend Sheila, or the school's social worker.

An unsetteling look at the secrets of Leave It To Beaver era America. At first, all appears normal but there are soon hints that something is not quite right. It leaves a haunting impression. What is mum really serving for dinner?! :eek:

The mark of a great horror comedy is the degree to which it delivers the two generally incompatible genres in equal measure. By that metric, the 1989 horror comedy Parents is an abject failure. Sure, the film has elements of both horror and comedy, but overall, the film falls firmly in the horror category. The laughs are few and far between, and once the dread starts creeping in, it intensifies until the final shot.

I highly enjoyed this unusual, humorous, and eerie film. It had the classic 80s touch with the many wide angles shots and eerie score. At times Blue Velvet and the Shining came to mind. Fun movie!

creepy movie about parents who are cannibals.... very sedate and slow for the subject, but effective.
