It may drag on a bit, but it's rather interesting nonetheless. The music was amazing and the ending wasn't too shabby, either.

I've seen some really bad stuff come out of Japan, enough to make me stay away from anything not martial arts-related that comes from there. But this film was a very different experience. Parasite Eve, based on the novel by Hideaki Sena, does a fine job of bringing the characters and plot from the book to life. The acting is top notch and the special effects, which are amazing for its time, do nothing but compliment the story and the depth of the plot. The movie takes awhile to get going, but there are plenty of things to enjoy about this film before it gets really deep into the story. Definitely check it out, especially if you've read the novel.

First of all this is not a movie based on the game. The game was based on an ideas from a book, and this film is based on that book. With that said, this is a surprisingly well done asian sci-fi horror film. The beginning took a while to actually get somewhere, but it was interesting nonetheless. The acting is actually pretty good too, I was very pleasantly surprised. Some of the special effects were a bit cheap, but this was made in 1996 so give it a break.
