Un des meilleurs films sur l'univers des yakuza dans le Japon des annees 60.

here's a film with fantastic imagery and plot, as well as acting. the mixture of music and imagery made this film one of the best Japanese crime dramas of its time; when the title sequence starts, you know this is going to be a good movie and what's best is that it doesn't disappoint - the climax is just as amazing as how the film starts.

I am really struggling to come up with something that this film lacks. Incredible from start to finish.

I just saw this 1964 Japanese gem on Netflix Instant....and let me just say it has aged well. A stylish black and white gangster flick, or rather Yakuza, follows tough guy Muraki in his first taste of freedom from the Big House to his eventual return. He meets up with a sulty gambling gamine name Saeko and his fate is set. Smart, cool and stylish this film is a fun ride. Masahiro Shinoda directs. (I actually rated it 5 stars, but for some reason Flixster won't print it...)

Breathtaking cinematography befitting a noir of this high caliber!
