The wonderful comedian, John Candy is funny in this film; Only the Lonely with Ally Sheedy and Maureen O'Hara. Candy plays a cop that lives at home with his very domineering mother (O'Hara). When he meets a quiet lady working at a funeral parlor (Sheedy) he is smitten and starts to see her. Plenty of laughs happen when the three are at each others throat....is there enough room for both ladies in his life?

Not the funniest, but one of the best films John Candy ever made. Cute story and great cast makes this one worthwhile.

As it is, fans of Candy are expecting a John Candy movie -- that is, a reasonably hilarious comedy about a sweetly sympathetic bumbler. And while he is as cumbersomely lovable as a Saint Bernard puppy, he's rarely allowed to be funny here. He seems miserably uncomfortable as a romantic lead, or maybe it's just that he's playing opposite the Stepford Actress.

I wouldn't call this one of John Candy's funniest, but it's a nice light hearted romantic comedy that seems to have gone underrated over the years. It's definitely worth a look for those that are looking for a little something different from Mr. Candy's repertoire.

I think Maureen O'Hara stole the movie, she was so awesome in this movie :-)
