Danny Muldoon, a Chicago policeman, still lives with his overbearing mother Rose. He meets and falls in love with Theresa Luna, whose father owns the local funeral parlour. My first viewing of John Candy in a more serious role. A harmless movie for a rainy day with a great cast.

Sure, the idea of Chris Columbus "updating" Paddy Chayefsky is a little alarming, but this still ends up in the plus column. John Candy and Ally Sheedy are adorable together, it's set in Chicago, and it actually contains the punchline "What if it's a rapist dressed like Elmer Fudd?"
