One-Eyed Jacks (1961)

Running from the law after a bank robbery in Mexico, Dad Longworth finds an opportunity to take the stolen gold and leave his partner Rio to be captured. Years later, Rio escapes from the prison where he has been since, and hunts down Dad for revenge. Dad is now a respectable sheriff in California, and has been living in fear of Rio's return.

An exciting, interesting, and very well acted western. Karl Malden is superb as always, and Brando is competent in his direciton. Worth a look for curiosity's sake.

A western with Marlon Brando as a tortured soul starting out on the road to revenge but as ever the character develops and there are twists and turns a plenty!

I give this film 5 stars because it is one of the greatest westerns ever. It's the only film Marlon Brando completely directed (supposedly Stanley Kubrick was slated to direct). Someone on facebook reviewed this as a "great little western". Great; yes. Little; no. This is an epic film, running at almost 2 1/2 hours, with some of the greatest actors of the 50's and 60's. I'm surprised Karl Malden and Slim Pickens aren't listed under 'cast' on facebook, not to mention Ben Johnson. The only complaint some might have is that it drags a little. And unless you're totally enamored with the relationship between Rio and Dad Longworth I can appreciate why. However, if you like serious westerns this should be next on your list. -AAron

Interesting western about a mans choice between love and vengeance and how far a man will go to hide his secret shame. Some truly great cinematography and a strong performance from star/director Marlon Brando who shows why he is an acting legend. Defeinitly take the time to watch it.
