At times it is hindered by the 80's production values, which doesn't help, but Jack's Back is a decent thriller and features James Spader in a decent performance

Yet another thriller about a possible Jack the Ripper type killer. Spader does a good job as usual, but he's surrounded by bad actors and a predictable story. Overall, it's okay, but not good.

Rather good little sleeper from 1988, starring James Spader in a dual role (I will not give away anything more!) Above-average offering, with copycat Ripper killings in present-day America. Lots of interesting twists & turns, so fasten your seat-belts & pay attention! I am unsure as to why it failed to do better at the box-office....audiences can be irksomely fickle!

The plotting is too haphazard to completely overcome any deficiencies.

I like James Spader so I'm biased towards his films, lol. As a remake on a long standing theme I found this film's twist on the plot intriguing.
