A western that can't boast of being really substantial but has a leading actor that gives it a much more interesting and, above all, convincing identity, because you can hardly poke holes in its credibility even when the story pressures you to overlook some of its plot ups and downs. If you're a fan of westerns, I highly recommend it, and if not, it's worth a look for Tim Blake Nelson's acting work.

An atmospheric slice of vintage Americana that shows there’s plenty of life left in seasoned Western archetypes, Old Henry gets much of its mileage from the somewhat unexpected lead casting of Tim Blake Nelson.

Although there is much to admire on a technical and craft level, the absence of storytelling innovation gives Old Henry the sleepiness of a familiar lullaby or nursery rhyme.

Good movie! And that is rare these days. A great example of a good movie because of a good story and well played characters.

While it might not be the most original story, it is well done and Nelson's portrayal of farmer-turned-reluctant-gunslinger is worth the price of a ticket.
