Niagara (1953)

Rose Loomis and her older, gloomier husband, George, are vacationing at a cabin in Niagara Falls. The couple befriend Polly and Ray Cutler, who are honeymooning in the area. Polly begins to suspect that something is amiss between Rose and George, and her suspicions grow when she sees Rose in the arms of another man. While Ray initially thinks Polly is overreacting, things between George and Rose soon take a shockingly dark turn.

Like I told my mother: If Marilyn were still alive, and if I were lesbian, I'd have a crush on her. Marilyn did a decent job compared to other movies she's been in, and the supporting cast really made the movie what it is. I hated the camera movement because it was extremely choppy, but I got over it.

One of Marilyn Monroe's best movies. Really good little thriller set at the Falls.

Worth seeing for Hathaway's superbly crafted direction, even if it needed a Hitchcock to merge the symbolism of the location (the falls, the belltower) with the themes of sexual domination and envy.
