quiet, desaturated look and feel to it makes for a great film in the escalation for a bad decision

Powerful, beautifully shot film but torturous to watch because of the storyline.

Very slow, but gradually grips you more and more as the characters become more three-dimensional and the stakes get higher. Has an overbearing sense of despair and dirtiness that is quite effective.

There's no doubting the premise held great high-concept horror possibilities, but the end result is surprisingly bloodless despite some close-range gore.

Very slow and so naturalistic that it is almost devoid of the normal structure and nauances that you expect from a film. But that is exactly what makes this directoral debut so amazing to watch. The cast are really stretched to their limits in this uncompromising adaptation of a true story. Hard viewing, but well worth it - and one that I think will improve when seen again. Superb!
