Classic Lloyd short from 1921. Our spectacled hero attempts to gain clients for his girlfriend's boss in order to save her job by any means necessary. Then, in the belief she is to be wedded to another man, contemplates suicide in the build up to a daring high-rise finale. Comedy gold.

A sort of precursor to the "thriller" brand of comedy perfected in "Safety Last!," this Harold Lloyd short is as massively entertaining as anything I've seen by him. This also features by far the funniest suicide attempt scene I've ever seen!

Featuring the usual movie magic Lloyd so fondly would use to trick audiences into trembling anxiety, "Never Weaken" is filled with the usual almost-falling-off-of-buildings-tricks as well as the expected silent film staple; whoops we're falling on ice again gag. Nothing revolutionary or spectacular, Lloyd's two-reeler is simple and delightful at most.
