Natural City (2003)

Two cops, R and Noma, hunt down renegade cyborgs. Cyborgs are used as commandos by the military, as lust objects and for companionship. Normaly they have a limited lifespan of three years but black market technology is being developed to be able to transfer a cyborg's artificial intelligence into human host. This drives R to find a suitable host for his expiring cyborg Ria.

Une bonne intrigue, des personnages intriguants et un univers fantastique souligne par un bon rythme de depart qui s'alourdi plus le film avance. Celui-ci devient completement endormant a la fin et on ne sait meme plus ou l'intrigue doit nous mener. Bref, on aurait pu enlever quelques scenes inutiles et raccourcir certains dialogues cliches et ennuyants.

Visually rich and vibrant, worth watching if you're a sci-fi buff, but on the whole this film's plot is too incoherent and choppy to really allow the viewer to sit back and enjoy the scenery...like Blade Runner, which this tries so carefully to emulate.

the year is 2080 but cigarette smoking is as popular as ever in this 'Blade Runner' look alike. As in BR, everything is dark and moody and rather slow and incoherent at times. The fight scenes are choreographed well with alot of stop action photography. Ji-tae Yu puts forth another fine effort, and the movie is definitely worth a watch for the effects and scenery. However, when boiled down to its core elements, its a romance with a cyborg story and the romantic angle really doesnt seem credible. The ending is a bit too shmaltzy for my taste, but I do applaud the effort. See it and decide for yourself!

Beautiful movie with great visuals. I liked the fact that it was less a "save the world" movie and focused a lot on a personal intrigue where people were moved by very intimate motivations.

It's like Blade Runner, but with pretty people and a plot. Interesting factoid: smoking is still legal in 2077, at least in Korea.
