In a contemporary New York City, members of a dysfunctional family of vampires are trying to come to terms with each other, in the wake of their father's death. One of the worst vampire movies I have ever come across. Its in my Suzy Amis Collection and the only reason I continued to watch it. Dracula gets hunted down and killed by the current Van Helsing. But Dracula's Daughter Nadja takes his place in the undead world. Nadja, coincidentally gets involved in a lesbian relationship with Lucy, wife to Jim Van Helsing. Its in B&W which takes away from the overall movie, after all it was filmed in 1994.I didn't get much out of this, maybe an Art house Movie, not sure, just didn't work for me at all. 1 Star

A hip and cool post-modernist take on the vampire genre, the best elements in Nadja are the ones where Almereyda lets himself be influenced by the same experimental vibe of David Lynch's best works, and it's no wonder that the film was presented by Lynch himself. Nevertheless, it doesn't happen very often throughout the film, and what is worse is that regardless of the deceitful stylistic approach, this seems to be the usual conventionally structured vampire film seen time and time again.

Without sounding like TOO much of a bogan, the coolest part about this film for me was I got completely off my tree with some friends before seeing it at the cinema. The cinema was brand new (unfinished really) and one of the small panels came away from the wall near where we were sitting. Convinced the cinema was falling down, one of my friends held the panel against the wall as hard as possible while I addressed the cinema, telling them all not to panic. Great movie.

We LOVE this movie!! Great atmosphere, great storyline - even the pretentiousness somehow seems at home. Awesome movie - can't get enough of it!! Elina Lowensohn was incredible!

I love this movie. Absolutely never get tired of it. The best vampire movie ever made. I love everything about it from the way it is filmed in grainy black and white, to the soundtrack, the performances, particularly Elina Lownsohn - perfect. I must have watched this about ten times now. If you like Vampire movies, then you must see this.
