Mulholland Dr. (1999)

The original TV pilot version of Mulholland Drive, telling the story of an amnesiac woman in Los Angeles who sets out to uncover the secrets of her own past with the help of a wannabe actress. Filmed in early 1999 and never aired, this version has only ever circulated in bootleg form. Additional photography took place in late 2000 and the pilot material was reworked into the 2001 feature film.

Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece and one day it will be widely rated as such. It is a perfect film, filled to the brim with ideas, it has more ideas in one scene than most films have in their entirety. Dream-like, sensual, ironic and sometimes downright funny, it's almost impossible to define. Watch it, possibly at night, in a darkened room, in silence. It will stay with you forever.

This was such a mesmerizing film that felt like being in a very complex dream full of mystery and sensuality, starring Naomi Watts and Laura Haring. They were both exceptional in their respective role(s), and worth excellently in the direction of David Lynch who once again knows how to make people think and go to places they've never even heard off. Moreover, the plot of the movie at first may seem ordinary but knowing its a David Lynch's film things are not always what they seem. Therefore the movie starts going many places and with different stories, but never bores you but it keeps you interested and amazed about this world this characters are. It's very fascinating to experience this movie and try to understand what's going on, even though you may never know, but by simply watching it it gives you a certain satisfaction because of how awesome and amazing this movie was, because it truly is a cinematic masterpiece like no other. ~November 2, 2014~
