Didn't feel like a 5, but I quite enjoyed it.

Reletively intruiging noir-ish film has some pretty thin characters, save for Chazz Palminteri who adds a new twist to the noir cop. The film doesn't have the style of other retro-noir films like Chinatown or L.A. Confidential, and suffers from it. Nice cameos from William L. Petersen and Rob Lowe though.

Super tough coppers in hats, corrupted dignitaries, incriminating 8 mm films but not one single original idea... Apart from B-class cast there is one rewarding thing: Jennifer Connelly and her assets (I also enjoyed Daniel Baldwin being beaten up - them Baldwin tossers!). I allow myself to be shallow, this movie was really soporific.

As one fellow critic noted, "the film needed more Jennifer Connelly". darn right. And far less Nick Nolte. not a bad film but it could have been so much more.....
