An excellent film noire mystery set in Los Angeles shortly after WW II which involves the murder of a beautiful actress (Jennifer Connelly) and a mysterious roll of film. Well worth watching.

An imperfect but still entertaining neo-noir mystery.

Stephen Hunter 08 Aug 2001

But the film's most annoying error is the arrogant conceit of revisionism. It postulates a world that did not exist, because it exorcises the entwined concepts of communism and Cold War.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Mulholland Falls out on DVD. I loved it in the theatre but I was under the impression that I was the only one. It has an allstar cast including Nick Nolte, John Malcovich, Melanie Griffith, Jennifer Connolly, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Chazz Palminteri, Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, Treat Williams, Danial Baldwin, Bruce Dern, and William L Peterson. Mulholland Falls is a 1940s LA police serial brought to the big screen. They did an excellent job and I enjoy this one more than LA Confidential. For $9.99 this is a buy not a rent so go out there and start shopping.

A good movie with some fine acting but I'm surprised Notle didn't die of lung cancer the amount of smokes he went through.
