A life is not plot; plot is not life. By scrupulously sticking not just to the accuracies of Turner’s life as we know them but to the tiniest of details, the chipped mugs on kitchen tables, the pantaloons on a passing merchant, the spray of storm surf across the bow of a ship, Leigh wants us to truly see the world Turner moved through. Only by seeing that world can we see how he saw and painted it.

Beautifully shot and acted, it's one of Leigh's more enjoyable and accessible recent films, one that will appeal to more than the arthouse crowd normally drawn to his films. Watch this movie online http://www.watchfree.to/watch-2a08eb-Mr-Turner-movie-online-free-putlocker.

Most will be put off by its lack of plot, the incoherence of Spall's character, and the seeming randomness of the combination of events in the film, but "Mr. Turner" is nonetheless excellent; beautifully filmed, picturesque, and well-acted with some of the best production design of the year. It's an extraordinary, and extraordinarily weird movie. Not for everyone, but if it sounds like something you'd like, you'd probably love it. I know I did.

British painter William Turner, whose work was both admired and reviled in his lifetime, is played with surly grunts and glowers (and flashes of true emotional depth) by Timothy Spall, yet leaves his motivations obscure and actions perplexing. Despite some lovely period details (costume, set) the story is weighed down by an eerily discordant musical score and an excessively slow moving plot, making this too-long film a snoozer and disappointment.

Turner's painting of the scene, The Fighting Temeraire will, in fact, become his masterpiece. As Mr. Turner is Mike Leigh's — a growling, snuffling, earthy work of art, every frame worthy of framing.
