Story of a troubled man who says of himself: "All my life, I've been too much trouble for everyone I've ever met." Perhaps that is the reason that a compassionate friend can make all of the difference in our human existence. Good movie, great job by Lena Olin.

Unfortunately, the script is so hopelessly superficial that very little of this registers. It's the work of Eric Roth, who wrote the unspeakable Billy Crystal comedy, "Memories of Me," and Michael Cristofer, a playwright whose most prominent previous screen credit was the disastrous "Bonfire of the Vanities."

If you have manic depression you relate to this film. If you don't you should watch it to know what to look for as long as you remember that it is extremely over-the-top manic.
