Bong Joon Ho has arguably the best film of 2019-Parasite. I like Okja the best so far. This is nicely photographed and acted. There are a lot of movies and shows lately, if it is not engaging halfway through i quit. made it halfway.

For the record, before I watched the movie, I did not read any information about this movie. And when I watched it, I was confused about what is going on. And I read a few articles and talked to friends and had a better understanding about the message from the movie. However, I was still confused with many of the details in the movie. The more I understand the movie, the more unsettling I feel about the characters in the movie, ironically, unlike the mainstream media, I am not concerned about the religion aspect, nor Jennifer acting, but the storylines, and the motivation of the main characters. I am 50/50 about recommend this movie to someone else. Overall, the movie is really disorientating (for my poor intelligent), I would suggest you to read some article about the movie before you watch it.

Mother! is ambitious and dorky, like a Hieronymus Bosch painting redone as swirl-art. It’s entertaining to watch, because it’s not easy to see where it’s going—though you might feel a little underwhelmed when you discover where it ends up. The main reason to keep watching is Lawrence, receptive and radiant.

I completely understand why many people hate this movie. There are some truly vile images, extremely disturbing scenes, a very convoluted plot that weaves both a Biblical allegory with the history of time. This film is very hard to watch and very challenging. It is definitely not for everyone. The film is replete with philosophy, theology with a smattering of Quantum physics. But a movie like that is not going to be entertaining, though there are some odd and humorous moments in the film. This is not a fun journey, but it is intellectually stimulating. One theory of time, from Hawking, is that the Universe constantly expands up to the point when it is at its apex, then collapses back into a particle of infinite mass and density, which in turn leads to the Big Bang and the expansion starts all over again. Take that theory and combine it with the Bible (and numerous biblical references) and current times that seem like we may be close to the apocalypse and there you have this film. Not for everyone. Really.

The first part of this movie was great. Unsettling events happen that keep the audience unnerved and worried for our main character. Just enough hints are put in to allow the audience to correctly guess the allegory that Aronofsky is going for. All this great craft gets lost though in the final 40 minutes or so in the movie. If the audience hadn't figured out what the movie is about yet, they are hit over the head with it over and over. This might be somewhat needed for Aronofsky to make his point, but it is very tiresome for the viewer and ultimately wasn't necessary beyond the first 15 minutes or so. This movie is worth seeing if you're a movie buff but I wouldn't recommend it for the average movie goer and I wouldn't say that this movie is a great film. It was interesting though. Lastly, I don't understand why they copied Rosemary's Baby's movie poster. The two films have somewhat similar themes.
