Kim rattles you with this family’s bizarre and pitiful plight, and only then, from a place of agonised discomfort, does the laughter follow, in great whoops and roars.

Certainly not for all tastes, but Ki-duk Kim's experimental film explores the connection between family, sin, betrayal, vengeance and sexuality in one of the most uncomfortable and disturbing dark comedies I've ever seen. Thoughout the movie, ideas around identity, pain and the inability to achieve sexual pleasure are constantly being compared to the choice of death. Is life worth more than pleasure? Do the sins of the father and mother always come back to the child? In a family, why do choices and decisions play out over and over again as if on a loop? A sort of absurdist take on the Greek tragedy. While the film is essentially metaphorical -- or perhaps allegorical -- it is not easy to watch. But that does not mean it isn't worth experiencing.

Despite being allegorical and without dialogues, this movie manages to be quite engaging and never boring thanks to the wise direction and good aesthetics.

Unbelievably dark and sadistic. Moebius is a dialog free, beautifully filmed, unforgettable nightmare.

No penis. A disruptive relationship leads to an unfortunate accident and a young man has his penis removed. He rolls in rough cliques and needs to appear to be normal, despite his lacking essential equipment. However, it becomes apparent the young man is lacking some his parts. Meanwhile, he has his own unique methods of pleasure. Ki-duk Kim, director of Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring; 3-Iron; Dream; Time; The Bow; Wild Animals; Crocodile; Pieta; and The Coast Guard, delivers Moebius. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and well done. There are some very intense scenes and worthwhile character development and the acting is solid. This was recently added to the Netflix online queue so I had to add it to the wish list. This was better than average, has some unique qualities and scenarios, and an intense conclusion. This isn't perfect, but is definitely worth watching once. Grade: B
