Meet Monica Velour (2010)

For Tobe, a nerdy, horny, frizzy-haired cineaste who doesn't quite fit in with the average contemporary teen, the pinnacle of womanhood is Monica Velour, a soft-core actress who reached the zenith of her career in the 1980s. When Tobe learns that his love idol is headlining hundreds of miles away at the Gentlemen's Petting Zoo in Indiana, he drives off with carefree glory, filled with the hope of meeting her.

Funny, quirky feel goodness!! in a odd ball kinda way.

There's a scruffy, honest charm to this film that keeps us involved, even though the rough edges are ultimately worn down by what seems like an over-developed script. But a strong central performance wins us over.

I liked it. Sometimes you run in to people that leave a mark in your live forever...

Tim Grierson 05 Apr 2011

Despite a sympathetic performance from Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, there simply isn't much life or surprise in this tepid indie.

Owen Gleiberman 14 Apr 2011

The role of a former star of the "golden age" of porn sounds perfect for Kim Cattrall, and she handles it nicely - at least, in the rare moments when this indie comedy isn't terminally contrived.
