A smart little genre film that dares to be something and do something different. It is a film at least ten years ahead of its time as far as content. It fails in some scenes and the end comes about from no where. This is just a minor squabble as the film is more about relationships then the actual plot about a murder case. A film all Sam Fuller fans should watch as it is a smart little film.

Dois detectives investigam o homicÃdio de uma stripper num bairro japonÃªs: Ã (C) esta a premissa pulp, supostamente descartÃ¡vel, que Samuel Fuller transforma num sÃ (C)rie-B categÃ³rico, com todo o estilo, verve e coolness, que sÃ£o habituais nos filmes do Mestre. Agrada-me especialmente o confronto de culturas (americana e japonesa) e a visÃ£o de um autor que, em 1959, jÃ¡ sabia perfeitamente situar a histÃ³ria num contexto de atrito racial, que dominou mil filmes de acÃ§Ã£o durante as dÃ (C)cadas de 70, 80 e 90. Venha mais Fuller.

i have 3 complaints about this movie- 1. The acting of James Shigeta- I Feel that this early in his career his acting was over the top, as was his performance. the climactic ending, where shigeta realizes the killer (Greene) is speaking about what she sees in the face of her lover is very clumsy. 2. The shadow of the camera panning in a bedroom scene of shigeta and shaw 3. The "board breaking" (or failure to do so) in "karate" scenes where those attempting to do so are in judo uniforms, with the word "judo" on a poster on the wall. Judo is not board breaking, and karate students don't wear judo uniforms. I think "house of bamboo" was a much better film, with better acting, and much more realism. making this "noir" movie weave around a love triangle was very awkward.
