Maggie's Plan is tonally uneven and at times too convenient, but it is so authentic in its silly screwball premise while also being genuinely funny at times. Greta Gerwig is so charming in the main role, all of the characters are well developed and the film portrays this issue from every angle which I loved. It is a sophisticated, funny and above all very original romantic comedy.

Maggie's Plan is imbued with the kind of navel gazing that will inevitably grate on some viewers without the patience for it but for everyone else, there is much to like in this engaging and sweet screwball comedy.

Really well done. Actually a relief to see this lovely, well-acted, unique movie after months of stinker movies. Greta Gerwig and Ethan Hawk are, as always, wonderful. It's more rom-com-reality than rom-com, which is kinda nice.

Something between Shakespeare, Woody Allen and Noah Baumbach, a cautionary tale filled with Manhattanite wit and small moments that have the ring of truth.
