Madame Curie (1943)

Poor physics student Marie is studying at the Sorbonne in 1890s Paris. One of the few women studying in her field, Marie encounters skepticism concerning her abilities, but is eventually offered a research placement in Pierre Curie's lab. The scientists soon fall in love and embark on a shared quest to extract, from a particular type of rock, a new chemical element they have named radium. However, their research puts them on the brink of professional failure.

At times it was just a discovery channel biopic but still a story of a great couple well told.

I love most films based on history or a biography so I enjoyed this one. Greer Garson is one of my favorites as well. Enjoyable and interesting.

A story everyone should be familiar with, even if this version is slightly whitewashed by the author - the Curie's younger daughter that didn't get her own Nobel. Such a wonderful cast!

Decent film, focusing more on sweet romance than scientific discovery. Artificial and slightly cheesey, but no more than you'd expect from a 40's Hollywood biopic.
