Philippe Mora's western masterpiece about an Austrailian folk hero during the Austrailian gold rush of the mid 1800's. Dennis Hopper is perfectly cast as the out of control outlaw, as is Gulpilil as his sidekick. After shooting Hopper ran off the set in costume, drove to the grave of Morgan, polished off a bottle of rum, got caught driving with a blood alcohol count of being legally dead and then was deported.

Flawed, but interesting Australian 70s exploitation flick. It's hard to believe Hopper was drunk and high on cocaine throughout filming, because I think this is his best performance.

Dennis Hopper plays Mad Dog Morgan, which is just him only really, really drunk. Rumor has it that he was deported from Austalia immediately after his last day of shooting.

Decided to watch this in honor of Dennis Hopper's recent passing. This film is part of the crazy 70s Australian exploitation scene and features a completely drugged out Hopper playing a Australian folk hero wildman. If you're familiar with Australian exploitation films of this era, it's an added bonus to get to see many familiar faces from other classics, such as "Mad Max", "Sky Pirates", and "The Man From Hong Kong".

This was a very boring and forgetable film. And of course Troma released it on video.
