One of those movies that should be viewed by everyone.

**** (out of four) One of the greatest of all movie westerns. Based on the book by Walter Van Tilburg Clark and directed by William Wellman, the film successfully questions the quest for quick revenge. It is harrowing and unforgettable. Henry Fonda plays a cowboy who tries to stop a group of cowboys from taking out vigilante justice on two men who they think murdered a cattleman.

The movie reminds me of 12angry men and to kill a mockingbird, movies who show the true meaning of justice in a very clear way. To long ive been waiting to see this masterpiece with one of Henry Fonda's most perfect performances. The characters are written and directed with extreme exellence, all diffrent personality's which give us the needed conflicts and arguments whom bring the message of justice out even better.

Great movie by Wellman, one of the finest in the western genre. The story really revolves around moral courage and the inherent dangers of a mob mentality. The tone of the movie is very dark both for a western and for being made in the middle of the second world war.

A very important and often overlooked film. Extremely relevant, even to this day. And another brilliant performance from Henry Fonda.
