After his wife leaves him, middle-aged Ben Bingham slips into a funk and refuses to change out of his pajamas. Justin, Ben's 17-year-old son, has the cure for what ails his depressed dad: he gives Ben a makeover and pushes him out into the singles scene. Soon Ben is the most popular guy in town, but when Justin falls in love for the first time, Ben must refocus his priorities and set about trying to win back his wife.

Former ballplayer struggles with romance in this comedy that seems lost in its narrative.

Pleasent romantic comedy, with Richard E Grant as a man having a mid life crisis when his wife leaves him, while his son helps him turn his life around. Nicely played by all concerned, but any film that cast Grant as a babe magnet requires a disbelief to be well and truly suspended.

The direction rarely rises above acceptable, but anytime the camera’s pointed at Grant, it doesn’t matter. Like the currently ubiquitous pop song of the same name says, sometimes it’s a good hurt.
