Just before Christmas, department store clerk Steve Mason meets big spending customer Connie Ennis, who's actually a comparison shopper sent by another store. Steve lets her go, which gets him fired. They spend the afternoon together, which doesn't sit well with Connie's steady suitor, Carl, when he finds out, but delights her young son Timmy, who quickly takes to Steve.

This classic, adorable film is sure to entertain. It gives of nostaligic vibes of a simpler time; full of Christmas spirit.

Mitchum’s tough-guy demeanor serves him well here, giving an odd energy to the love story.

It's great when an actor plays against type with charming results. Mitchum is clever, witty and easily likeable with his dog eyed presence. What is really impressive, though, is Timmy. He plays a six year old; he doesn't over do it or under do it. It's pitch perfect. A very sweet film with some great lines. Worth adding to the Christmas watch list.

I'd never heard of or watched this Christmas film before and I quite liked it. Robert Mitchum is one of my favorite actors, so that may slant my view to be impartial to the film, but it's a nice change of pace for Mitchum to play a romantic role. Janet Leigh is a single mom with two suitors, one is Bob Mitchum and the other is Wendell Corey. Janet Leigh is very likable as the lead of the film, trying to figure out who would be the better husband and father to her son. After watching the film, I realized I haven't really seen that many films with Leigh (besides, of course, "Touch of Evil" and "Psycho") and now want to see her in more. All around, it's a charming little film that was a flop at the time of it's release because audiences were too accustomed to seeing Mitchum play a tough guy and didn't care to see him as a romantic lead. I think this film deserves to become one of the pantheon of classic Christmas films.

It's perfect for those who like their holiday films retro, sweet and as laid-back as Mitchum.
