Holiday Affair (1949)

Just before Christmas, department store clerk Steve Mason meets big spending customer Connie Ennis, who's actually a comparison shopper sent by another store. Steve lets her go, which gets him fired. Such a wonderful movie! I like this Christmas story a lot. Very classy and romantic. Wise dialogs and charming performance of Janet Leigh.

pretty decent holiday comedy. the story's not very cohesive and some of the dialogue's a bit heavy on the schmaltz, but the cast is entertaining, particularly Mitchum. nothing especially original, and the charm comes more from idealist fantasies than reality, but it's still an ok film.

I think I liked this movie so much because of Tim, who is really a swell kid. One might believe that Connie has to choose between two men in her life, but Tim is the one who takes the final decision. I also enjoyed breakfast in the park, when unexpected things can happen to those warm hearted who take care of orphan squirrels.

I wasn't feeling this one, I bailed after 10 minutes. The kid annoyed me and it felt slow. Maybe just wasn't in the mood.

Just watched this for the first time tonight with my mom and my girlfriend. Very genuine in its sweetness and exceptionally well-written with nice twists and turns. Robert Mitchum is such a fucking badass. And Janet Leigh has some amazing breasts. I miss point bras, dude. Torpedo tits need to come back.
