Simple but effective story. Very much a slow burn. Nicely drawn characters with some nice natural humor.

The ending was abrupt--as if someone turned off the projector mid-climax, one reviewer said--& intentionally left the audience hanging. According to many adoring critics, this is supposed to be art. Not to me.

Tokyo, the ultimate modern metropolis, with its neon-lit commercial graffiti and buildings that look like a pastiche of everywhere and nowhere, is perfect for Kiarostami's story of closeness between strangers.
