To me, this seemed a somewhat predictable film, in terms of the plot development. I thought it must surely be based on a play but when I looked it up online, it seems it isn't (or its not mentioned on IMDB in any case). The performances are ok but its not exactly a memorable, certainly not a stand out, film and overall I'd say its ok but no more. I wouldn't go out of your way to see this, perhaps unless your a particularly big fan of Keira Knightley perhaps. Eva Mendes is ok in it too but there's little else that especially appealed to me. Its very much a film that I felt was/is aimed at upper middle class people, which is centered on morality. It made me think somewhat of the film Closer, starring Jude Law. Its not an awful film as such but its just not particularly...good either, so I wouldn't especially recommend it as such, no.

Last Night is a New York morality play: A film in love with (lower) Manhattan that is suspicious of real romance. What it lacks is Allen's sense of horseplay; his appetite for lunatic adventure. When you take a bite of the Big Apple, you're not supposed to nibble.

A realistic and occasionally insightful film about love and betrayal. All the characters seemed real and interesting, with the exception of Sam Worthington's, who lacked some depth. The idea that the film isn't sexy enough is missing the point; its not about sex but about relationships and how to juggle them when you care about two people who wants and needs conflict. It successfully portrayed how appealing an affair can be but also how much meaning a marriage still holds.

Writer-director Massy Tadjedin cuts back and forth between these twin temptations. Will Michael succumb and prove Joanna correct in her suspicions? Will Alex's French accent conquer all? Do you care? I didn't.
