When a prominent art dealer is found murdered, the man's death leads to an intriguing investigation steeped in sex, corruption and crime. When bad scripts happen to good people. Despite a talented cast and an Oscar-winning director, the script is so inept that no one could make a good film from it. It's needlessly lurid, sorely lacking in logic, very predictable. William Friedkin adds enough visual flair to keep this from being a complete disaster.

I only gave it three stars because of the cinematography and David Caruso's character, who's comparable to Caruso's current romantic and sometimes tragic hero Horatio Caine. The car chase scenes are definitely something to watch out for, as well. Other than that, the acting overall was horrible and the plot was painfully predictable. The aforementioned reasons are the only positive aspects of this otherwise sub-par film.

Admittedly I overlooked this, but upon rewatch the real weaknesses I only see are the slightly confusing plot and the ending which just isn't that good.
