Insecticidal (2005)

Cami is a dedicated student of entomology that is researching insects in her sorority house. When her sorority sister Josi sprays insecticide on her bugs, Cami becomes upset. But sooner she learns that the insects had grown bigger and bigger and she and her sisters are under siege by the insects. Further, Josi is the host of the breed of mutant insects that are very hungry.

Not completely without entertainment, but the plot has many holes. The acting is soso. If your into big bug movies, it might be worth a rent.

Brilliant sorority girl Cami's experiment in insect intelligence goes awry, leaving giant, mutant insects hunting for food in a sorority house - and the only thing to eat is beautiful sorority sisters! The insect horrors increase in size while their source of food shrinks. The girls fight a savage hit and run battle with whatever weapons they can find. But the insects have more on their super-intelligent minds than food. Beautiful Josi becomes a host for more than sorority parties when she is infected with the next generation of mutant insects! Cami and a few survivors survive the night, leaving insect carnage throughout the house.

The acting is really good, the rest of the movie was pants. Where the bugs free on a photoshop magazine? Would like to see these guys doing something proper.

This movie tries really hard to evoke the feelings of creature features from previous eras. The horrid CGI does little to help in that respect. The acting and the idiotic writing brings it much closer. This is not a good movie, nor really even a good B-movie, but the effort was definitely headed in the right direction.

What do you get if you let giant mutated bugs loose in a Sorority House full of barely clothed, sex obsessed girls? Well the answer is Insecticidal, a falling ever so slightly onto the so bad its bad school of B movie turd. I can handle bad acting and ludicrous plot holes and twists but one thing I can't be doing with is poor CGI. The characters are more or less as you expect, bitchy head girls, stunning lesbian couple, jock boyfriends and our heroine the virginail geeky bug obsessed girl. This is reasonably entertaining and it has its gross out moments but trys to hard in places to show as much flesh as possible, not something I expected to say!, and comes across as quite forced. The death scenes are inventive in parts but again let down by bad CGI. All in all it put the 90 minutes in well enough but not something i plan to see again, and I have seen worse in my time.
