Amazing cast, brilliant story, superb direction...it was remade as 'The Departed', and while that may be a great movie, it just cannot live up to the brilliance of Infernal Affairs. I ADORE this movie!

Having watched Scorsese's take on the film first and then this, I was absolutely conflicted as to which was better. The last scene was in particular of much interest as I battled to decide if Scorsese did match or was it inferior or superb in every capacity possible. I really don't know, I like the shoot-out in Scorsese's version more I suppose, but I loved the suave persona of Tony Leung here more, he feels so much at ease and yet human and any error he did is due less to diligence in covering up but more to simple error that anyone does, something we fail to check and normally don't bother as it never crosses our minds that it will screw everything up. Also, as much as certain bits were bizarre, like the way the gang leader was so easily duped, I still think this film is brilliant and really engaged me on every level.
