The sum of this film is not equal to its parts.

I expected more touching story from this film, but unfortunately, it is based on a true story and that's why it was not so interesting. Still I love the nature of Africa and "I" dream of Africa. It may be a good film for nature lovers.

I'm beginning to suspect that Basinger's Academy Award winning turn in LA. Confidential was a fluke.

Despite the usual depction of the 'mzungu' settler life, the movie depicts a tragedy in the life of Kuki and her spirit and resolve to live her life to the fullest in unpredictable Africa. Is this not what life is after all?
