For those equally unfamiliar with Morgan, or who only know him because of the tragic end to his story, Collins' new film will make for a worthwhile education.

[Lee Morgan's] life was as colorful and tragic. His talent as deep. This enlightening and haunting documentary gives him his due.

Thank goodness for Larry Reno Thomas and his taped interview with Helen Morgan. Filmmakers did an excellent job of re-creating The ambiance of the 60's jazz scene and including former jazz talents of the time. Bravo!

It's rare that a film makes you feel so acutely in its brief run-time, covering albums and addictions alike, but I Called Him Morgan accomplishes just that.

A touching and poetic portrait of a pair of imperfect people, forever transformed by the vices of success, the big city and other all-too-human temptations.
